BCA (Hons.) - MCA

UG Programmes

BCA (Hons.)

BCA (Hons.) is a four-year, full-time residential programme. The degree is awarded to students who successfully complete the prescribed theory and laboratory courses, as well as undertake project work or internships in public or private sector organizations. This hands-on experience provides practical exposure and enhances their prospects for suitable employment.

The programme offers students the flexibility to choose from a range of Major, Minor, Multi-disciplinary, Ability enhancement, Skill enhancement, Value added and Discipline specific elective courses across all semesters. The course provides a sound practical skill that is required by leading software industries.

This programme is streamlined in a way to meet the demand for qualified experts in the field of Computer Sciences. This programme is slanted more towards Application Development and has more accentuation on the most recent programming dialects and instruments to grow better and quicker applications. The main objective of this programme is to eliminate any types of barriers among industry and academia.

The BCA (Hons.) programme provides greater clarity with well-defined entry and exit options. It incorporates the essence of NEP-2020 at the undergraduate level, offering flexibility for students to pursue an MCA. The BCA (Hons.) shall have the following multiple entry and exit options.

3. Three years Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA).

Note: At the end of the three years, the student is eligible to take admission in MCA (first year) for the completion of MCA Programme. (As per the AICTE Norms)
4. Four years Bachelor in Computer Application with Honours :: BCA (Honours)
or
Bachelor in Computer Application with Research :: BCA (Honours with Research)

Note: At the end of the four years in BCA (Hons.), the student shall be allowed to take lateral entry in MCA (2nd / final-year) for the completion of MCA Programme. (As per the AICTE Norms)

Intake
General: 25 seats

Eligibility for Admission
10+2 in any discipline.
Candidates appearing in the Higher Secondary Part-II (12th) Examination and those whose result of the same is awaited can also apply provisionally.

Procedure for Admission
Admission will be based on the merit of students in the qualifying examinations.

Master in Computer Applications (MCA)

PG Programmes

MCA is full time, two years, 04 semesters, resident programme. MCA degree is awarded to students who attend and pass 15 theory and 06 laboratory courses and undertake project work in public or private sector institutions acquire real-life practical training which helps them in finding proper placement. The course offers choice to students for selection of Elective courses in 2 Semesters.

Intake
General: 30 seats

Eligibility for Admission
Bachelors' degree (10+2+3 pattern) in any discipline or any other degree recognized equivalent thereto from a recognized university.
Candidates appearing in the Final year of the qualifying examination or those whose result of the same is awaited, can also apply and appear in the Entrance Test provisionally.

Procedure for Admission
Admission will be based on the merit of students in the qualifying examinations.

Advanced Diploma in Machine Learning

Ph.D. Computer Sciences

Ph.D. Programme

The Department runs Ph.D programmes in Computer Sciences. At present, research is being carried out in the fields of Data Sciences, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Wireless Sensor/ Adhoc Networks, Bioinformatics and Internet of Things. The department has produced 09 scholars of M.Phil and 20 Ph.Ds. Admission to Ph.D Programmes will be notified separately subject to availability of seats.

Eligibility for Admission
Master Degree in the allied subject from the UGC recognized university.

Procedure for Admission
For Admission to Ph.D programme, the candidate should have UGC NET scores.
The university may also conduct their own entrance test. The eligible candidates are required to undergo written Entrance Test and have to appear for an interview.
Syllabus & Model Question Paper for the test can be downloaded from the University Website. Admit Card for Entrance Test conducted by the university will be collected by the candidates from the Department or shall be provided the same on the date of Entrance test.
The Entrance Test and the corresponding Interview will be conducted at BGSB University Campus, Rajouri.
